Tasmania’s whisky is among the best on the planet, putting this little island on the world map for yet another reason. This fact has been well-publicised in recent years, but an interesting fact has slipped under the radar: Tasmania is also producing world-class gin!  This year, Saffire will pay tribute to these incredible local gins by sampling some of the State’s best, alongside their whiskies throughout the event. 

Until 1992, Australian laws prohibited boutique distilleries from producing spirits. One man lobbied the Federal government to have those laws overturned, then began distilling whisky at an exceptional standard in his home State of Tasmania. This man, often referred to as the Godfather of Australian whisky, is Bill Lark of Lark Distillery and he will be joining you for the weekend. Also along for the experience will be Myfanwy Kernke from Shene Estate & Distillery, producers of the increasingly popular Poltergeist gin. Saffire can’t give away all the surprises for the weekend, but they are also excited to be welcoming an A-List international whisky expert and some award-winning entertainment. You’ll have to wait and see who!

Whisky Business: 11 – 13 August 2017

You can expect Todd Adams and his kitchen team to tantalise your culinary desires with Saffire’s signature faire. When not eating and drinking the best Saffire has to offer, you can expect to participate in a few surprise activities and some seriously Whisky Business. Dust off those kilts and polish your sporran!
