Guests of Saffire Freycinet can go behind the scenes on a complementary tour of the whisky production process, sampling local ingredients at Waubs Harbour Distillery on the east coast of Tasmania. Once an old oyster hatchery, now a meticulously converted world class maritime Tasmanian single malt whisky distillery set on the edge of the ocean in Bicheno, just a short scenic drive from the luxury lodge. Go behind the scenes at Waubs Harbour, with 5 salt-laden bond rooms and a cooling system run entirely by the ocean. Guests will also taste a range of Waubs Harbour whiskies from both their current range and also from the founder’s personal collection, in Waubs Harbour’s new ocean-view tasting room complemented by a platter of fresh, local produce.
