Centrally located between the Flinders Chase National Park and Seal Bay Conservation Park, Southern Ocean Lodge is a luxurious base for adventures.

An experiential itinerary tailored on arrival gives guests the opportunity to encounter abundant wildlife first hand whilst ‘treading lightly’. Native animals including kangaroos, koalas, wallabies and echidnas can all be found in abundance on Kangaroo Island, while marine mammals such as sea lions, fur seals, whales and dolphins make their home in surrounding waters.

Step out from the lodge’s doorstep for a scenic walk traversing the pristine limestone clifftops of Hanson Bay, enjoy a close encounter with sea lions lazing on the sand dunes at Seal Bay and discover Admirals Arch where seals frolic in a natural wave pool, perfectly camouflaged. Witness Kangaroo Island’s signature landmark, the Remarkable Rocks, a gathering of fascinating time-and-wind-worn rocks sitting atop a granite outcrop.

Admirals Arch is a natural grotto, providing shelter from the wind as well as a thrilling surf channel for the foolhardiest of seals.

For full immersion into the landscape, the Southern Spa provides a private sanctuary sitting low amongst the coastal heath with views to a panorama of native bushland framed by wide open skies. A menu of signature treatments features the Australian-made alkeme spa care range, complemented with Kangaroo Island’s own natural beauty products. A stylish, sensory retreat, the spa features three treatment rooms, a chill lounge and gym. Outside, a sauna and hot and cold plunge pools front the wilderness offering a refreshing hop between temperatures while loungers line the terrace, perfect for soaking in the moment.
