The lives of Tasmania’s threatened raptors will be safeguarded at a new treatment facility set to be established at the Raptor Refuge, thanks to a new partnership with Saffire Freycinet. Raptor Refuge and Saffire Freycinet have teamed up to raise awareness about Tasmania’s 12 raptor species, with a particular focus on four currently endangered species.
As part of this three-year collaboration, Saffire Freycinet will provide funding to construct a world-class treatment room at the Raptor Refuge in Kettering—the first of its kind in Tasmania. The Refuge treated 81 raptors last year, with 95 percent of injuries resulting from human activities, including power lines, vehicles, traps, and poison. Working directly with Saffire Freycinet, the Guiding Team will also share the plight of the raptors and the important work involved to rehabilitate and release with guests who stay at the property.
Situated with views of the Hazard Mountains and the pristine waters of Great Oyster Bay on Tasmania’s stunning Freycinet Peninsula, Saffire Freycinet is an award-winning luxury property located on Tasmania’s east coast. The property offers a range of personalised experiences that connect guests with the region’s wildlife, local food and beverages, and First Nations heritage.
