Silky Oaks Lodge

Experiences

With Silky Oaks Lodge as luxury base, discover the sights and sounds of the rainforest with a riverside hike and plunge into a freshwater billabong, take a Dreamtime walk with Kuku Yalanji Traditional Custodians and explore the nearby wonders of the Great Barrier Reef on a diving, snorkelling or helicopter adventure. See what to do when at Silky Oaks Lodge

Silky Oaks Lodge is perfectly positioned to connect guests with the region’s extraordinary wilderness areas, from the Daintree Rainforest to Cape Tribulation and the world’s largest coral reef system, the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef.

Silky Oaks Lodge is set in 80 acres of rainforest bordering the World Heritage-listed Daintree National Park and overlooking the beautiful Mossman River.

Unique to Silky Oaks Lodge is its riverside location, drift snorkelling, swimming, canoeing and private rainforest walks through pristine surrounds.

The lodge is ideally located for access to the region’s spectacular natural attractions, including the Daintree Rainforest, Mossman Gorge, the Great Barrier Reef and Cape Tribulation. It’s also an easy transfer to the stylish restaurant and shopping precinct at nearby Port Douglas. There are endless options to explore the region which can be customised to include the many attractions of the area both near and far. Guests can book local tours to explore the Great Barrier Reef, from cruising aboard a luxury catamaran to snorkelling and diving among the kaleidoscopic colour of fish and coral.

Kuku Yalanji guides take Silky Oaks Lodge guests on exploratory adventures in the rainforest, explaining traditional uses of food and medicine plants, demonstrating hunting techniques and telling both modern and Dreamtime stories of the rainforest.

Silky Oaks Lodge works with the best local operators to offer an in-depth or special interest experience of the region’s landscape, its wildlife and its people.

Silky Oaks Lodge is an ideal base from which to explore the ancient rainforest via specialty guided tours on foot, by boat or four-wheel drive safari.

Experience Kuku Yalanji Dreamtime stories at nearby Mossman Gorge, take a guided walk through coastal mangroves using traditional hunting methods, or journey by helicopter from the lodge helipad to remote waterfalls or coral cays. Take a drift snorkelling excursion – a scenic rainforest tour down the Mossman River that is both exhilarating and informative, or learn more about Aboriginal art while taking a painting class in a private gallery.

Back at the lodge, the popular Healing Waters Spa offers a range of treatments that feature the natural Australian-made Sodashi skincare range and is inspired by ancient Indigenous beliefs that water is a renewing and life-giving force, evidenced by the mineral-rich healing waters of the Mossman River flowing gently by.
