A walk on the wild side

The Remarkable Rocks to Southern Ocean Lodge walk is becoming a very popular option for new and returning guests, as fun and active way to return from the half day Wonders of KI tour.

A picturesque section of the Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail, the four-to-five hour journey covers 13 kilometres, beginning at the Remarkable Rocks and following the spectacular coast, with views of the wild ocean and untouched bushland. An optional detour to Sanderson Bay is a great spot for lunch and a swim, before carrying on to Cape Younghusband.

Here, the track heads inland to a low cathedral of mallee forests, providing cool sanctuary for birds and wildlife, and heads east towards the lodge. The walk can be done with a guide on a private basis, or as a self-guided hike, and finishes in the best possible way: a well-deserved sunset cocktail in the comfort of the Great Room at Southern Ocean Lodge.
