Ten years ago, a big vision was quietly pursued in sleepy Coles Bay. Since then the highly awarded luxury lodge, Saffire Freycinet has welcomed nearly 20,000 guests. But it’s not just indulgent dining, jaw-dropping architecture or fine linen that has created its success… it’s their Tasmanian community, and the Tasmanian way of life.

This month, Saffire reflects on the perfect synergy it takes to create such a unique and iconic experience. “Our guides, our producers, winemakers and oyster farmers are the ones creating the magic every day. Their dedication to creating meaningful experiences for our guests results in powerful connections to place, and memories that last a lifetime. We can’t thank them enough.”

So they’re celebrating together, this year, as people. No matter what’s in store for the next ten years, they know the collaboration, cooperation, determination and pure passion of the Tasmanian people are what will stand the test of time. Passing on their deepest gratitude to everyone who’s played a part in the dream of Saffire Freycinet they are opening their doors on the 16th of September 2020 of a special 10th Birthday Open Day.

For one special day, Saffire is welcoming Tasmanian locals inside for the first time in history. Tickets strictly limited, and are a 100% donation to the Wildcare Tasmanian Devil Cause. They’ll show you around, cook you lunch, and introduce you to the Saffire experience… and you’ll leave knowing you’ve helped our most iconic endangered species.

Leading Experiential Luxury – Luxury Lodges of Australia

Saffire Freycinet joined Luxury Lodges of Australia in 2010 upon opening, soon after the membership association was formed.

Executive Officer LLoA Penny Rafferty says Saffire Freycinet was a genuine ground-breaker for Australia. “Saffire has been a leader in developing Australia’s high-end experiential narrative, one that will absolutely stand the test of time in a post-covid era. Something that has always set Saffire apart is that constant innovation, particularly developing guest experiences. I always jokingly say the team at Saffire love a good old “dress up”, whether it’s in full-length waders, a beekeeping suit, or a Stormy Seas lifejacket coat. But those moments really capture the essence of place. Saffire is memorable, timeless, beautiful. It’s that combination of all the things that make up a luxury lodge; the intimacy of just 20 suites, the location and the privilege of place, and a number of compelling reasons to come and do something genuinely Tasmanian.”
