Kimberley Season Open
| With Western Australia’s borders opening March 3, the state is humming with anticipation as interstate and international guests are welcomed back. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, and given the already limited availability, it’s evident why many are making 2022 the year to discover WA’s beloved Kimberley. April and May are the perfect months to explore the stretch and breadth of El Questro Wilderness Park. Following the epic wet season rain this year, waterfalls and waterholes are in full flow, and life in The Kimberley is at its greenest. April usually marks the end of the wet season in the Kimberley and the start of the dry, with sunny, cloudless days. Although there is very little rain, the waterfalls and billabongs are at their fullest and take several month to dissipate. The temperatures are starting to cool down, ranging between 31ºC and 37ºC, making it ideal weather to fully immerse in the natural attractions. Surrounded by avenues of frangipani trees, El Questro Homestead overlooks the still and tranquil Chamberlain River. Located at the heart of the vast East Kimberley, the region conjures visions of boab trees, majestic ranges, an astonishing variety of wildlife, and of course those iconic Kimberley colours. Brilliant orange-red sand, sunsets over the ancient gorges and dinner under the inky star-studded sky. With almost 700,000 acres to explore, the Homestead’s surrounding landscape is dramatic and expansive with something to offer everyone from adventurous explorers down to novice hikers and first-time four-wheel drivers or take to the saddle and explore the El Questro Homestead property on horseback. Helicopter out to Miri Miri – a spring-fed waterfall cascading over a 50m drop. A somewhat steep walk will reward you with your own private swimming hole set in lush bushland. Unreachable by road or on foot, Miri Miri offers an unparalleled romantic excursion that is only enjoyed by a select few. Choose to go either in the morning or afternoon, or have the Homestead Chef pack you a gourmet picnic lunch. Exclusive use of Zebedee Springs is offered to Homestead guests every afternoon. Let an El Questro Ranger drive you in style to the most romantic of hideaways. Take a short walk through dense, tropical vegetation to a series of thermal pools and small waterfalls. Set amongst a backdrop of sheer cliffs and Livistonia palms, Zebedee Springs is a magical place to relax and rejuvenate after a busy day.
