Leading travel publication AFAR has unveiled its “10 Best Places to Travel in April,” singling out Uluru as one of the world’s most compelling destinations for 2026.
AFAR highlights April as an ideal time to experience Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, when milder temperatures set the scene for a newly launched, immersive outback experience. Central to the feature is the five-day, 33.5-mile (54km) Signature Walk from Kata Tjuta to Uluru, operated by the Tasmanian Walking Company in partnership with Anangu Traditional Owners. For the first time, travellers can overnight within the National Park itself, gaining rare cultural insight while traversing this extraordinary landscape.
“April is great for: overnighting in the outback in a new, very special way.”
AFAR also recommends extending the journey with a stay at Longitude 131°. With just 15 tented pavilions oriented toward the monolith, Longitude 131° is presented as the natural complement to the walk – a place to reflect, restore and continue the connection to Country in considered comfort.
