When George Clooney and Julia Roberts reunite on the big screen for Ticket to Paradise, a film directed by Ol Parker (Mama Mia! Here We Go Again), qualia shines as one of the movie’s idyllic paradise backdrops.
A romantic comedy about two divorced parents, David (George Clooney) and Georgia (Julia Roberts) who travel to Bali after learning that their daughter is planning to marry someone she has just met and find themselves on a mission to stop them from making the same mistake they once made.
Despite the plot being set in Bali, Ticket to Paradise was filmed on location in Queensland and the production called Hamilton Island home for four weeks in November of 2021, with the cast and crew using the stunning visuals of Catseye Beach, One Tree Hill, qualia, the Bougainvillaea Pool and the Great Barrier Reef Airport to portray the Balinese setting.
Many of the scenes between David and Georgia were set at qualia’s private Beach House. The exclusive hideaway offers panoramic views of the Whitsundays Islands and Coral Sea and features a spacious main bedroom with ensuite, private 12-metre infinity edge private pool, spacious entertaining area with 10-person dining room, private deck and a separate guest house.
Guests of qualia will note that a bar scene in which David is lamenting life was filmed on location at the bar at qualia’s Long Pavilion, while some other scenes were filmed at Spa qualia, a special place where everything has been meticulously considered to relax the mind yet completely spoil the senses.
