Spicers Peak Lodge has earned the Sustainable Tourism Certification from Ecotourism Australia, a significant milestone in their commitment to protecting the environment and promoting responsible tourism. Demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental, socio-economic, cultural, and responsible management principles by implementing global best-practice sustainable tourism standards to achieve this recognition.
“This recognition is a testament to our commitment to responsible tourism and the hard work of our dedicated teams. By protecting and honouring our natural surroundings, we’re able to create experiences that not only inspire our guests but also safeguard these precious environments for generations to come,” says CEO Tash Tobias.
Our journey doesn’t end here – it only strengthens our resolve to lead with integrity and sustainability in everything we do.”
Achieving this certification is no small feat. The process involves meeting over 200 key criteria across four pillars of sustainability, including environmental, social, cultural, and business practices. The certification process can take up to twelve months and includes an independent third-party audit. Once certified, properties must undergo periodic audits to maintain their certification, ensuring ongoing commitment to global best-practice standards.
For our outstanding commitment, we were praised by Ecotourism Australia CEO Elissa Keenan, “Travellers are increasingly demanding more environmentally friendly stays that give back to local communities, and Spicers Retreats absolutely reflect this philosophy “.
Spicers Peak Lodge partners with community and conservation organisations, repurposes food waste, sources local produce, and provides accessible rooms for guests. They also partner with Vanguard Laundry, a socially responsible linen supplier, and features Leif bathroom amenities, which are eco-friendly, plant-based, and made in Australia. Leif’s products highlight native Australian botanicals, are vegan and cruelty-free, and are free from sulphates and parabens, aligning with sustainable and ethical practices.
As they celebrate this significant achievement, their dedication to sustainability continues to deliver exceptional, eco-conscious experiences for guests. Spicers Peak Lodge is committed to offering the highest standards – not only in luxury but also in environmental responsibility and they look forward to welcoming guests to experience sustainable luxury.
