Baillie Lodges have today confirmed the much-anticipated reopening of Silky Oaks Lodge set for December 15, 2021. The luxury Queensland property closed in 2020 and since then, a dedicated team including Lodge Manager Sonya Boaden and Executive Chef Mark Godbeer have remained onsite, preparing for the large scale works that commenced this week.

Baillie Lodges Project Manager Joel Walker has appointed Cairns-based construction company Prime Australia to lead the $15 million refurbishment, engaging with locally based tradespeople. Baillie Lodges Founder Hayley Baillie has commissioned local artwork from the region’s Kuku Yalanji people to feature throughout the boutique property as well as fine art photography by Australian artist Catherine Nelson. Silky Oaks Lodge will continue to work with valued local tour operators to offer guests premium experiential travel to the surrounding Daintree Rainforest, Great Barrier Reef and Cape Tribulation.

“We’re thrilled the works on Silky Oaks Lodge have begun this week. At Baillie Lodges we feel strongly about supporting local and regional economies by working with local designers, tradespeople and food and beverage producers to give back to the local communities in which we operate,” – James Baillie, Baillie Lodges.
