Baillie Lodges has completed the first in a series of enhancements designed to transform the famous tented retreat overlooking Uluru and bring a renewed sense of style to this popular outback property.
Having taken over operation of Longitude 131° in November, a just-completed $2 million refreshment of the Lodge’s 15 elevated luxury tents and Dune House helps further align the iconic retreat with the group’s existing properties – Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island and Capella Lodge on Lord Howe Island. The refurbishment has introduced the Baillie Lodges touch to all areas of Longitude 131°, from updated soft furnishings, fine linens and the group’s signature ‘Baillie Bed’, to a refined in-suite mini bar selection to include premium wines and gourmet Australian goodies, plush floor rugs and generous European-style rain-head showers.
Key to the new direction unveiled in the soft refurbishment this month is the introduction of local Aboriginal heritage to the artworks and artefacts in the guest tents and lounge areas to complement the existing explorers’ photographs and journals on display throughout the property. Other enhancements include commissioned furniture by Australian designers throughout, new uniforms by bush outfitters RM Williams and a flash fleet of luxury touring vehicles has been delivered to carry guests in comfort. Outside, Eco-Smart fire-pits and flares bring a new light to the landscape experience including dune-top dining and Table 131°.
For those wishing to explore further off the beaten track, an expanded program of Bespoke Experiences has been designed to enable a deeper connection with the spectacular desert landscapes and ancient aboriginal culture of Central Australia. Including lodge-operated private touring and activities with local adventure operators to exhilarate, educate and amaze, the options are many.
