NAIDOC Week is a time to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s theme, For our Elders, acknowledges the role Elders play across every generation, in our communities and families.
Last week the El Questro team hosted a range of activities alongside local Elders. Guests joined for storytelling by the river, art workshops, movie and quiz nights and a Welcome to Country smoking ceremony. This was a special opportunity to come together as a community and inspire, educate and celebrate alongside our Elders.
In sharing elements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, heritage and culture we acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community and we pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past, present and emerging.
