After undergoing a comprehensive makeover, the luxury outback retreat Longitude 131°, situated at the gateway to the dual World Heritage listed wilderness of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, has reopened its doors to guests in March.
The refurbishment coincides with the tenure milestone of its owner, Baillie Lodges, celebrating a decade of stewardship over Longitude 131°. Taking the helm in November 2023, Baillie Lodges embarked on a mission to enhance the architectural and stylistic elements of the property, catering to the discerning tastes of luxury travellers seeking immersive experiences in Australia’s spiritual heartland.
Among the recent enhancements, all 15 luxurious guest tents received a comprehensive refurbishment, along with the main Dune House, housing the lodge’s restaurant and an outdoor terrace offering panoramic views of Uluru. A highlight is the introduction of a bespoke artwork by Anangu artist Carlene Thompson from the Ernabella Arts Community, titled “Kalaya Ngura – Emu Country.” This captivating piece portrays the artist’s ancestral lands near Kanpi in the Western APY Lands, adding a touch of cultural richness to the Dune House ambiance.
Furthermore, the Dune House underwent a makeover with the inclusion of Pierre and Charlotte Julien dining tables crafted from American Oak, a hallmark design feature across Baillie Lodges properties. Internal fixtures were refreshed with Tasmanian Blackwood, a signature finish, complemented by new Armadillo floor rugs. Outdoor spaces received a facelift with reupholstered Robert Plumb furniture, ensuring a seamless blend of style and comfort.
Within the guest tents, Tasmanian Blackwood joinery was introduced for the built-in Baillie Bed, robe, and in-suite bar, alongside new Armadillo floor rugs and chic leather Amelia tub chairs, elevating the overall guest experience.
These 2024 renovations mark the culmination of a series of significant investments in Longitude 131° over the past decade under Baillie Lodges’ stewardship, reinforcing its commitment to offering unparalleled luxury and seamless immersion in the heart of the Australian outback.
