After recent announcements by the Queensland State Government to extend travel restrictions for interstate visitors, Lizard Island has delayed plans to re-open the luxury resort this spring, and will now open for guests on December 14.
The rescheduled date comes just in time for Summer and the festive season, an idyllic time to visit the Island with consistently warm temperatures during the day and warm balmy nights. Recently voted Travel + Leisure’s top Australian resort in its acclaimed World’s Best Awards 2020 list, Lizard Island is well-placed to welcome guests to its private setting at the northern end of the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef. With just 40 beach-house style suites catering to an intimate number of guests and more than 20 private beaches ready to be explored, an escape to Lizard Island promises the ultimate luxury: plenty of space to enjoy this island paradise with the ones who matter most.
Several new measures have been implemented at Lizard Island to allow an even more personally tailored guest stay and experience of the Great Barrier Reef. A new resort role includes a Guest Services Manager who will offer a personalised pre-arrival check-in in Cairns and help with finalising guests’ itineraries to make the most of their time on the island. Also on offer is a raft of private and guided experiences to be enjoyed exclusively with friends and family, including a private luxury boat charter for fishing, snorkelling and diving excursions on the reef.
