The Festive season has always been a special time of year at Lake House, Daylesford.

Almost 40 years since opening their doors, Daylesford’s luxury lodge is a favoured place for multi-generational families to gather and celebrate milestones and occasions. The Festive Season is no exception. Come December, Christmas lights, decorated Christmas trees, sumptuous wreaths and twinkling candles welcome guests from near and far.

Each year the Lake House take on the traditional Christmas pudding has played a central role in a long lunch or dinner over the Christmas holidays, and in recent years those who are not able to join the festivities at the iconic House on the Lake can pre-order their own puddings to enjoy at home.

This much-loved family recipe from Culinary Director Alla Wolf-Tasker AM is sure to deliver a delicious crescendo to every Christmas celebration. But you’d better be quick to place your order, with only a limited number of puddings available – they tend to sell out quickly each year.

Made onsite in Daylesford, this is a dense pudding with rich abundant fruit; raisins, sultanas, currants, orange, lemon and grapefruit peel and segments, apples, ginger, spices and a generous dose of dark ale, rum, sherry & Madeira.

Dress it up with dark fruits; cherries, blackberries, blueberries and mulberries or perhaps a simple caramel sauce with dried and glace oranges? It’s completely your choice. Lake House recommend an Amaro on ice to serve alongside, but you can also never go wrong with a glass of chilled Champagne.
