Daniel Murphy appointed 3rd Executive Chef in restaurant’s 13-year history.

After a decade at the stoves of Appellation at The Louise, executive chef Ryan Edwards is handing over the reins of one hatted Appellation to Daniel Murphy.

Daniel, a 30-year old born and bred Barossan, joins Appellation after over a decade spent developing his skills both overseas and in South Australia.

Daniel joins Appellation after 2 years alongside Mark McNamara at St Hugo restaurant, highlighting a wonderful legacy of regional culinary skills, with Mark being Appellation’s original executive chef.

Daniel’s instinctive flair for simplicity and seasonality reflects close ties with Barossa producers and growers, while his new kitchen team clearly identifies the next generation of Barossa chef talent – including his talented wife, Appellation head chef and pastry specialist, Emily Laubsch.

Both Daniel and Emily have chosen to express their refined, regional dining story in Australia’s global wine and food region of Barossa. They are proud to call most of their team and network of growers; friends, family and neighbours. Choosing to invest their careers and culinary vision in their regional home, further reinforces The Louise and Appellation’s overarching commitment to community and industry sustainability.
