Bamurru Plains

Accommodation

Each of the twelve ensuite safari bungalows at Bamurru Plains is designed to immerse guests in the sights and sounds of the wetland surrounds, with uninterrupted views across the floodplains from sunrise to sunset from the comfort of the bed. See what’s included in every stay

The design of the safari lodge affords guests an immersive, up-close-and-personal interaction with the environment – with minimal environmental impact and while still enjoying a high degree of comfort.

This ecologically sensitive luxury camp focuses on environmental sustainability and key luxury standards offering the highest levels of comfort.

Bamurru Plains and its 300 square kilometres of surrounding country are exclusively accessed by lodge guests, assuring a quiet, privileged outback experience.

Twelve safari bungalows scattered along the edge of the floodplain are designed to keep guests connected to the sights and sounds of the surrounding bush. Guests wake to the call of magpie geese and watch the parade of wildlife emerge into the day, spot wildlife from six metres high in the treetops from the ‘hide’, or from the cool of the infinity-edge pool.

As the sun draws close to the horizon, it is time to sit back with a drink and enjoy the soft Wild Bush Luxury touches.

“An utterly remote, stunningly crafted wilderness lodge, Bamurru is… African-style bush luxury.  Built on stilts over the wetlands, Bamurru is state-of-the-art rustic with staff who can morph from Jeeves into Crocodile Dundee.“

Tatler

With no telephones, TVs, CD players or the typical features of a hotel room to distract you, your focus turns to the surrounding environment.

Enjoy key creature comforts including a supremely comfortable bed, 100% cotton linen, large soft bathtowels, a high pressure shower and lots of space to relax and unwind.

Each safari suite is raised on a timber platform, with space for sitting out the heat of day with a good book or watching the local wildlife. The Safari Bungalows are perfect for two and the larger Kingfisher Suite is ideal for families with a spacious private ensuite, and its own dining and lounging spaces.

For larger groups, the Jabiru Retreat offers a more private ‘camp within a camp’ experience featuring two safari-style bungalows connected by a walkway leading to an exclusive-use plunge pool. A shaded deck area incorporates an alfresco lounge and dining space with a view overlooking the floodplains that attract abundant wildlife including buffalo, agile wallabies, brumbies and an incredible variety of birdlife including magpie geese and the retreat’s namesake, the Jabiru.

Jabiru Retreat accommodates four adults, and up to an additional two children upon request in swag bed sleeping, catering to six guests in total. It is the ideal space for either two couples travelling together, a family with older children, multi-generational families or small groups of friends wanting their own space.

With expansive floodplain views through Bamurru’s trademark ceiling-to-floor mesh walls, it really does feel as if you are right amongst it with an intimate sense of connection to the wildlife and wilderness outside.
