Meander through button-grass plains and tea-tree forest before emerging onto the untracked sands of a wild Southern Ocean beach on Stephens Bay Beach Walk (4 hours return).

From here, there’s nothing between us and Antarctica. A significant Aboriginal cultural living site lies halfway along this beach. If we’re lucky, we’ll spy the red backs of southern rock lobster crawling in shallow rocky pools under the headland while we pause over a picnic lunch.
