Where will 2028 take you? Life’s different after True North…
True North Adventure Cruises has released its 2028 sailing schedule, introducing new journeys shaped by its own guests, from a ten-night digital detox in the Kimberley to a culturally led voyage across the Top End developed with Traditional Owners.
Building on close to four decades of small-ship discovery, True North’s 2028 voyages follow the seasons around Australia’s coastline. The year begins in Fremantle in March as both ships head north to the Kimberley, where the season opens at King George Falls at the tail end of the wet. Guests wait for the tide to nudge the ship over the sandbar before heading upstream until the bow sits beneath the twin falls. The year then closes on the Great Barrier Reef from November, with remote coastlines, rich marine worlds and cultural encounters in between.
Among the highlights of the 2028 schedule are two new Australian journeys:
Kimberley Disconnected – Ten nights between Broome and Wyndham with guest internet switched off from the first night to the last. Days are spent in adventure boats, gorges and waterholes, with a helicopter flight that turns Montgomery Reef into an abstract work of art. Emergency communications stay open so loved ones can still reach guests, but otherwise it’s a digital detox in a place where the real luxury is having nowhere else to be.
Top End Explorer – Ten nights from Arnhem Land to the Torres Strait, beginning with a Welcome to Country and developed in close collaboration with Traditional Owners along the route. Local hosts share bush foods, medicinal plants, art, weaving and the stories behind them, while helicopter flights on almost every day reveal rivers opening into wetlands that stretch to the horizon.
Beyond the Kimberley and the Top End, the 2028 schedule includes the Great Barrier Reef, with snorkelling alongside turtles off the protected Raine Island, Sydney Harbour, South Australia’s wildlife and coastal flavours on Southern Safari, and Western Australia’s clear waters and rugged coastline on Adventure South West.
With just 36 guests aboard True North and 20 aboard True North II, cabins across the 2028 departures are limited. Bookings are now open, and travellers are encouraged to secure their preferred cabin early to be among the first to experience these new journeys.
