Mt. Mulligan Lodge in Northern Outback Queensland will unveil a purpose-built spa and private mineral bathing experience in March 2026, marking a new chapter in outback wellness. Set on the banks of a eucalyptus-fringed weir overlooking Mount Mulligan (Ngarrabullgan), the intimate tented spa has been designed to keep the vast landscape central to every treatment.

Located on a 28,000-hectare property rich in gold rush history and 37,000 years of Indigenous heritage, the lodge has long embraced a strong sense of place. The new spa continues this philosophy, incorporating seasonal native botanicals into signature foot rituals and offering restorative treatments grounded in the surrounding environment.

The treatment menu has been curated in partnership with Australian skincare house LaGaia. Guests can tailor multi-treatment packages designed to support both physical and spiritual wellbeing.

At the heart of the experience is a private outdoor mineral bathing pool. Solar-heated and adjustable from 2 to 38C°, the mineral-rich waters offer therapeutic benefits including muscle relaxation, improved circulation and enhanced sleep — ideal for the extremes of the outback climate.

“Wellness at Mt. Mulligan Lodge has always been about connection – to place, to self and to nature,” said General Managers James and Phoebe Egan.

Morris Escapes CEO Ross Penegar added: “This spa reflects Mt Mulligan Lodge’s distinctive spirit – raw, restorative and quietly luxurious.”
