Bullo River Station, a sustainably driven luxury lodge and remote working cattle station in the heart of Australia’s outback, is thrilled to announce the start of its 2025 season, as well as reveal some new developments and experiences on the property.
With its continuous commitment to ecological enhancement, immersive outback adventures, and the return of the celebrated Wild Wine Escape, the new season promises to be a rich blend of nature, luxury and conservation.
Sustainability at the Heart of the 2025 Season
Bullo River Station is proud to continue its conservation work and incorporate core priorities and initiatives as outlined in its recently released Sustainability Report. These efforts focus on responsible land management, wildlife conservation, and sustainable tourism practices in partnership with the Australian Wildlife Conservancy. Guests will have the opportunity to learn about Bullo River Station’s progressive and pioneering conservation programs, including habitat restoration and the protection of native species, ensuring that future generations can continue to experience the wonders of Bullo River.
Wild Wine Escape Returns
The 2025 season also marks the return of Bullo River Station’s highly popular Wild Wine Escape, an exclusive culinary experience that combines gourmet dining with the untamed beauty of the outback. Taking place this year from 11-14 August, 2025, the immersive three-night escape features outback discovery, expertly curated wine pairings and locally sourced cuisine under the expert guidance of Voyager Estate’s Chief Winemaker, Tim Shand, all while surrounded by Bullo’s breathtaking scenery.
An Authentic Outback Experience
As one of Australia’s most iconic cattle stations, Bullo River Station offers guests the chance to experience the rugged beauty of the Northern Territory outback firsthand. Visitors can participate in daily station life, from watching the mustering of cattle to exploring the vast landscapes on guided 4WD tours. Bullo River Station’s fleet of 4WDs has been enhanced for the 2025 season with the addition of a new 10-seater vehicle, ensuring greater comfort and accessibility for guests exploring the property in larger groups.
2025 Seasonal Experiences
Bullo River Station’s guest season runs during the NT’s dry season, from April to September, and each month offers something very distinctive and spectacular to explore:
In April, guests will find full waterholes following the wet season, and this is when waterfalls are flowing at their best. While it can still be quite humid during April, the payoff is being rewarded with lush, green landscapes. This is also prime fishing season at Bullo River Station. With the iconic Bullo River teeming with prized fish species, anglers can cast their lines and relish the thrill of reeling in the legendary barramundi, as well as other local favourites. The breathtaking backdrop of the surrounding landscapes only enhances the angling experience.
Come May, the rains and the last of the clouds will have disappeared, bringing warm dry days. June and July see the peak of the dry season, where daytime temperatures still reach a pleasant 30 degrees, but night-time is cool.
The dryer months also set the stage for unparalleled stargazing opportunities. The absence of light pollution and the extreme remote location of Bullo River Station makes it an idyllic destination for astronomy enthusiasts. The brilliance of the Milky Way and the Southern Cross takes centre stage, offering an enchanting celestial symphony.
August and September are arguably the best months to visit for bird enthusiasts. Due to most water sources drying up after the dry season, birdlife will congregate around the last remaining waterholes, making it easier to spot them. 2025 will also see the installation of a new bird hide at Bullo River Station, further enhancing the unique bird watching activities available on the property.
In addition to seasonal highlights, guests can enjoy year-round private and curated experiences including:
River Cruising
Guests can spend the day on the vast Bullo and Victoria rivers aboard their own private electric-motor boat, guided by one of the experienced Bullo River Station guides. Whether it is spotting native flora and fauna, birdlife or crocodiles, leisurely cruising, or to dropping a fishing line in, there is much to see and do on the water.
Waterhole Swimming
Marlee’s Bath is a popular spot for guests and the perfect place to enjoy a BBQ lunch after a dip. Plenty of other waterholes dot Bullo River Station and can be explored by helicopter.
Aboriginal Art
Numerous Aboriginal rock art sites have been found hidden in the station’s rugged red cliffs and ridge lines, dating back thousands of years. Thought to be the works from the Miriuwung-Gajerrong people, they tell the story of animals and ancestral beings that influenced the lives of First Nations people.
Reservations for the 2025 season are currently open with availability throughout the season. Bullo River Station will be under redevelopment in 2026 and will reopen in May 2027.
