In 2024, Spicers Peak Lodge celebrates its 20th anniversary as the flagship property, embodying Spicers Retreats’ commitment to renewal and deep connection with nature.
Located atop a mountain in Queensland’s Scenic Rim at 1,100 metres above sea level, this luxurious hideaway is Australia’s highest non-alpine lodge, offering an intimate and exclusive experience amidst the breathtaking wilderness of the world heritage-listed Main Range National Park.
Originally envisioned by founders Jude and Graham “Skroo” Turner, Spicers Peak Lodge was created to offer a boutique luxury experience deeply intertwined with the natural landscape. The Lodge’s architecture harmonises with its surroundings, blending seamlessly into the rugged beauty of Cedar Mountain. The structure itself exudes timelessness, with expansive glass panes, stone fireplaces, and wooden beams framing the light-filled interiors. Within, carefully curated artworks, including significant Indigenous pieces, add to the lodge’s sense of place and cultural richness.
Offering ten opulent suites and two private lodges, Spicers Peak Lodge redefines luxury. Each room features bespoke touches, from fireplaces to outdoor spas, while the stand-alone lodges boast private verandas and panoramic views that create the ultimate mountain escape. Guests are greeted by an immersive sense of tranquillity and indulgence, enhanced by the Lodge’s seamless integration with nature.
Celebrating two decades of refined hospitality, Spicers Peak Lodge will host a series of events, including a long table anniversary lunch and an Artist in Residence program featuring prominent watercolour artist Ros Handy. Guests can also enjoy a special anniversary package designed to elevate the luxury experience.
Dining at Spicers Peak Lodge is an experience unto itself. The award-winning Peak Restaurant serves contemporary Australian cuisine inspired by the finest regional ingredients, overseen by Chef Gareth Newburn. Each dish is crafted with reverence for the natural elements, offering a delicate balance between flavour, innovation, and nutrition. The restaurant’s extensive wine cellar offers perfectly curated pairings to complement the culinary journey.
Spicers Peak Lodge offers a range of activities, from scenic helicopter flights and nature hikes to spa treatments and stargazing. As the final stop on the two-day Spicers Scenic Rim Trail, the Lodge offers guests the opportunity to experience Queensland’s only member of ‘Great Walks of Australia,’ blending adventure with serene luxury.
Twenty years on, Spicers Peak Lodge continues to stand as a testament to the art of understated elegance and the transformative power of nature, offering guests an unrivalled escape where luxury meets the wild.
