Experience the perfect blend of serenity and exploration with a private, guided bushwalk through the stunning Bouddi National Park, exclusive to guests at Pretty Beach House, the epitome of relaxed Australian luxury and world class hotel.

This captivating journey begins at the doorstep of Pretty Beach House, where your guide will lead you along a narrow track winding through the majestic, ancient angophora trees. As you ascend, the path gradually unveils a breathtaking panorama of the Pacific Ocean, a view that captures the raw beauty of this coastal wilderness.

The word Bouddi is the local Darkinjung name for the eastern headland of Maitland Bay and has become synonymous with the national park and the surrounding area. It has various meanings in local Aboriginal languages and is thought to mean ‘a heart’ or ‘water breaking over rocks’.

After taking in the sweeping ocean vistas, your adventure continues along a hidden trail that leads you back into the heart of the bush. Here, you’ll meander through a lush eucalyptus forest, where vibrant flora and fauna create a living tapestry, a testament to the diverse ecosystem of Bouddi National Park. The experience is both invigorating and tranquil, offering a deep connection to the natural world just a stone’s throw from Sydney’s bustling CBD.

The Bouddi Peninsula, where this journey unfolds, is a gem within the Sydney Basin, extending from McMasters Beach to Box Head at the entrance to Broken Bay and the Hawkesbury River. Bouddi National Park, which covers more than half of the peninsula, is a sanctuary of native wilderness, where pristine sandy beaches and sparkling bays meet ancient forests. The remaining area is dotted with charming seaside villages like Pretty Beach, Killcare, and Wagstaffe, where time seems to slow, and the spirit of local history and community thrives. Expect to encounter local fishing boats, pelicans perched on wharves, and the quaint charm of seaside cafés, art galleries, and craft shops.

The landscape of Bouddi is shaped by the forces of water erosion and historical sea level changes. During the last Ice Age, the coastline was 20 kilometres further east, and the Hawkesbury River and Brisbane Waters were dry valleys. As the ice caps melted, the sea level rose, creating the stunning drowned river valleys that now define the region.

This unforgettable bushwalk concludes at a secret location where a sumptuous picnic, thoughtfully prepared and set up by the Pretty Beach House team, awaits you. After your meal, you’ll be provided with directions for a short, leisurely walk back to the house, allowing you to savour the tranquillity of Bouddi National Park just a little longer.
