In partnership with The Great Barrier Reef Foundation, True North Adventures are delighted to invite you to a once in a lifetime Reef Expedition across the northernmost tip of the Great Barrier Reef.
Join True North II as the vessel embarks on an exclusive, eight night conservation expedition on the Great Barrier Reef this December 2023. The inaugural conservation expedition will sail south from the Torres Strait Islands to Cairns, mimicking the movements of some of the Reef’s most majestic animals.
Snorkelling and diving through diverse coral reefs, guests will be able to witness untouched and remote marine environments while following the tracks of green sea turtles, visiting their nurseries, tagging whale sharks, and searching for the elusive Omura whale from the skies.
As well as being True North II’s maiden voyage in the Great Barrier Reef, this unique expedition will allow guests to experience the Reef like never before alongside marine researchers and conservationists who have dedicated their lives to protecting and restoring this natural wonder. The experience has been co-curated by Hayley Baillie, a diver, passionate underwater photographer, and Great Barrier Reef Foundation Board member, Richard Fitzpatrick, a marine biologist and Emmy Award winning cinematographer who has been uncovering the mysteries of whale shark movements across the Great Barrier Reef, and Dr Mary Bonin, a marine scientist from the Great Barrier Reef Foundation.
Limited to just 20 guests, this intimate adventure on TRUE NORTH II will depart on the 2nd of December 2023 from Thursday Island, Queensland. Over the course of the expedition, guests will be able to immerse themselves in the vastness and rich biodiversity of the reef, while being inspired by the unique role that each of the marine researchers and conservationists on board has in protecting this precious environment for future generations.
To join the expedition onboard True North II and witness scientific exploration first hand, reach out to the True North reservations team online or phone (+61 8) 9192 1829.
