Southern Ocean Lodge Reservations Go Live on May 9
Reservations will go live for stays at the new-look Southern Ocean Lodge mid-morning on Tuesday May 9 this year, as works continue on the rebuild of the award-winning luxury lodge on the wild southwest coast of Kangaroo Island. Southern Ocean Lodge will reopen on December 6, 2023.
There are three easy ways to make a booking at Southern Ocean Lodge:
- Call the Baillie Lodges reservations team on +61 (0) 2 9918 4355
- Email the team at reserve@baillielodges.com.au
- Book online at southernoceanlodge.com.au.
The reservations launch was forerun by an online auction campaign for ‘first in’ stays at the property, with funds raised for three community organisations, The Maggie Beer Foundation, The Royal Flying Doctor Service and the KI Country Education Fund, reaching a total of $43,000.
There’s a lot to explore at the new-look lodge. Southern Ocean Lodge’s original architect Max Pritchard and his team have led the recreation of the property and have included all the features our guests loved best along with some considered extras, set for a new era of travel on Kangaroo Island.
With the same generous inclusions as the original – all dining, drinks and signature experiences for starters – the new Southern Ocean Lodge also has almost the same footprint as the first, with 25 luxurious guest suites easing along the coastline.
New to the property is the ultra-premium Ocean Pavilion, cleverly designed to offer a single owner’s residence or two separate suites to create the ultimate Kangaroo Island hideaway for families and friends travelling together. The Great Room terrace now boasts a wet-edge pool, while spacious new surrounds for the Southern Spa allow for three treatment rooms, a gymnasium, sauna and hot and cold plunge pools.
Sustainability is core to the design of Southern Ocean Lodge and cutting-edge technologies have boosted water-capture and solar power generation while the team has planted a buffer of native succulents to enhance the lodge’s seamless connection with the environment.
