Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley prides itself on its attention to detail, and that’s why Benjamin Fletcher, the Engineering & Facilities Manager, is a perfect fit for the team. With a background in luxury hotels such as the Park Hyatt and The Langham Sydney, Ben’s experience in facilities management has helped create a seamless guest experience at the resort. As a trained cabinetmaker and joiner, he has an eye for detail that is reflected in his work.
Born and raised in Sydney, Ben’s love for the Greater Blue Mountains area stems from the awe-inspiring landscape that surrounds the property. “The first time you set foot in the Homestead at Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley, you are absolutely in awe of the escarpments that surround the property. At times, Donkey Mountain doesn’t even look real! I just love how dramatic the landscape is”.
As the Engineering & Facilities Manager, he is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations, overseeing property maintenance, preservation programs, and capital works projects. Problem-solving is a big part of Ben’s role, and he enjoys thinking outside the box to resolve issues that arise. Ben’s focus for the upcoming year is on evolving and upgrading the lodge’s systems to better protect the environment and improve guest experiences. Recently, all 40 villa pools have undergone a transition to magnesium, a mineral that offers numerous health benefits when absorbed through the skin during a swim. Magnesium-rich water has been shown to reduce anxiety, ease stress and promote better blood circulation. So guests can now not only relax in the privacy of their own villa pool, but also enjoy the therapeutic effects. New windows have been installed in each of the villas too, enhancing the views of the stunning surrounds.
