Silky Oaks Lodge, Australia’s newest luxury lodge in the world’s oldest living rainforest, has been named in Travel + Leisure’s prestigious It List for new hotels in 2022, released to its global audience of high-end travellers today. This is the 17th annual Travel + Leisure It List.

Renowned as Tropical North Queensland’s luxury bolt hole for more than three decades, the new-look Silky Oaks Lodge reopened in December 2021 following a $20million refurbishment undertaken by new owners, Baillie Lodges.

Selected by Travel + Leisure editors, the 2022 It List recognises the 100 most unforgettable new and reimagined properties in 35 countries around the world. Over the past year, the editors reviewed hundreds of new and renovated properties across the globe, which were then narrowed down to just 100 for the final list 100. Each hotel has been vetted by Travel + Leisure.

Silky Oaks Lodge Manager Sonya Boaden said the accolade was a welcome tribute as the property welcomed travellers from Australia and overseas following a longer-than-expected renovation due to the pandemic.

“It’s wonderful for the whole team to have guests come and experience the magnificent Daintree Rainforest with the glamourous new Silky Oaks Lodge as their luxury base,” Ms Boaden said.

“The recognition for Silky Oaks Lodge in the Travel + Leisure 2022 list among the world’s best new hotels is a great testament to the whole team which works hard every day to deliver an unforgettable experience for our guests,” she said.
