A hive of activity at the Lake House.
Many of the Lake House team are back after the enforced close down and there is plenty of action in the various kitchens. Jams and jellies are being set. Pickling, preserving, curing being done for when the restaurant reopens.
The 2020 honey has been extracted and sampled and is looking absolutely beautiful. Stay tuned for when you can get your hands on this very special cold extracted honey soon. Small batch, hand jarred, and full of goodness.
Elsewhere, teams are helping in the vineyard at Dairy Flat Farm, tending to the olive grove (looking like a bumper crop on the way this year!), in the orchard, and amongst the extensive vegetable plantings. Polytunnel contents are being turned over for the next season’s crops, beds are composted, and the teenage guinea fowl are being ‘trained’ to be a little more independent.
Lake House at home
There is plenty to do and see in Daylesford….Autumn colours are spectacular and although staying over night is still not an option, the Lake House has got you covered for beautifully fresh local produce and deliciously decadent freshly bakery items and an assortment of take away meals for you to enjoy a slice of Lake House at home. Stocked at their Wombat Hill House Café (in the Botanic Gardens) Trading as Wombat Staples & Take Away, operating under strict Covid-19 protocols it is providing much needed support for local suppliers and work for those ineligible for government subsidy of any kind.
View the Lake House at Home menu here, and the fabulous array of produce the team from Lake House have been busy putting together for you to enjoy in your own home.
