South Australia’s favourite foodie, Maggie Beer, has confirmed she will return to Southern Ocean Lodge to lead the KI Food Safari on Kangaroo Island in August next year. The 2018 KI Food Safari is the sixth in the series, and is part of a menu of special celebrations in the tenth year of operations for the celebrated luxury lodge.

Proving to be among the most exciting events on Australia’s food calendar, the KI Food Safari will run over seven nights from July 28 to 4 August, 2018, and combines the elegant cliff-top luxury of Southern Ocean Lodge with daily expeditions to the gourmet producers of Kangaroo Island.

Baillie Lodges owner James Baillie said the 2018 KI Food Safari offered a wonderful reunion of some of South Australia’s most passionate chefs and food producers, who had been valuable friends and collaborators over the property’s ten years on Kangaroo Island.

A highlight of this year’s KI Food Safari itinerary is a special dinner created by The Lane Vineyard’s Executive Chef James Brinklow, presented with matched wines from the acclaimed Adelaide Hills winery. Island expeditions include a visit to the Island Pure sheep dairy, a long lunch at Lifetime Private Retreats on the north coast and an experience of the ground-breaking Aquaculture Skills Centre at Parndana School where senior students produce sustainable barramundi and culinary herbs for supply to the lodge.
