APPELLATION AT THE LOUISE WINS SOUTH AUSTRALIA RESTAURANT AND CATERING AWARD OF EXCELLENCE FOR BEST CONTEMPORARY AUSTRALIAN REGIONAL RESTAURANT

Owner Jim Carreker Is Recipient of 2014 Hall of Fame and Lifetime Achiever Award

Appellation, the restaurant at The Louise Barossa Valley, was a major winner at the annual Restaurant & Catering Association South Australia Awards, receiving the judges’ choice as winner of the category “Best Contemporary Australian Restaurant – Regional”. On the same evening, Appellation’s developer and owner, Mr Jim Carreker, received the R&CSA recognition for personal achievement via the Individual Hall of Fame and Lifetime Achiever Award.

Annually over 2000 restaurants in South Australia compete for the industry’s most sought after juried awards across 54 categories for dining and catering businesses. At the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, more than 1100 leaders joined for a gala evening of celebration and recognition of the year’s “best of the best”. Appellation was named winner in its category from a field of five finalists for having “established a reputation as a world-class dining venue in the Barossa region.”  Receiving the award were executive chef Ryan Edwards and restaurant manager Emma Welling, who were joined on the evening by sommelier Cassaly Fitzgerald, marketing director Ruby Stobart and operations director Karen Petney.

Another highlight of this year’s awards event was the naming of Jim Carreker as the recipient of the industry’s Individual Hall of Fame and Lifetime Achiever Award. Ms. Sally Neville, CEO of Restaurant & Catering South Australia, noted Mr Carreker’s contribution to the development of excellence in regional dining and hospitality since opening Appellation and its adjacent accommodation, The Louise, in the Barossa Valley nearly a decade ago. Mr. Carreker previously served as a founding director of Luxury Lodges of Australia and is currently a board member of international hospitality association Relais & Chateaux as well as local arts institution Jam Factory.

Appellation is open for dining seven nights a week from 7pm. The restaurant is co-located with luxury vineyard retreat, The Louise, on Seppeltsfield Road in the northwest Barossa Valley, about an hour’s drive from Adelaide
