Saffire Freycinet has been named a 2014 Grand Award winner in the January issue of Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report, a prestigious monthly newsletter that reviews luxury hotels and resorts.

In addition, Saffire received a Special Recognition Award for “Most Memorable Hike” to honour their Wineglass Lookout Walk, which takes guests on a guided walk to the award winning Wineglass Bay – often recognised as one of the world’s top beaches.

This award adds to a host of accolades in the last year for Saffire, including the Best Luxe Hotel at the Australian Traveller Reader’s Choice Awards and Australasia’s Best Boutique Hotel at the Boutique Hotel Awards. The Australian Hotels Association (AHA) also named Saffire Freycinet the best resort style accommodation at their National Awards for Excellence earlier this year.

The Saffire experience is made up of meaningful moments that capture the essence of Saffire and its close connection to the Freycinet area. These moments can be as complex as the luxurious pleasures of a day spa experience, or as unique as wading out to enjoy fresh oysters in the waters of a nearby estuary.

Each year Andrew Harper selects his favourite properties from the past 12 months to comprise the Grand Awards list. To be considered for the annual awards, properties must possess strong individual personalities, offer relaxing atmospheres and demonstrate a consistent devotion to personal service.

Special Recognition Awards highlight hotels, restaurants, staff and travel experiences worth noting from the past calendar year of Andrew Harper’s travels.

Andrew Harper describes Saffire Freycinet as a “superb contemporary 20-room resort nestled in a eucalyptus forest beside Great Oyster Bay. Floor-to-ceiling windows in three-story main lodge grant magnificent views of the pink-hued Hazards Mountains across the bay.”

Saffire’s General Manager Justin King said, “We are thrilled to be named a 2014 Grand Award winner in Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report. This esteemed accolade is one that honours our commitment to personal service, ensuring each stay is tailored for each individual to allow guests to maximise the relaxing atmosphere and luxurious facilities on offer at Saffire Freycinet.”

Distinct in its design, exclusive in its features and set apart by its approach to individually tailored experiences and service, Saffire features 20 accommodation suites, each with sweeping views of Great Oyster Bay and the Hazards Mountains and complete privacy from the neighbouring suites.

Saffire Freycinet’s concept and design are like no other in the country, capturing the essence of this unique region and connecting with its environment to bring an authentic and enriching experience for its guests.

Designed by award-winning Tasmanian architects Circa Architecture (formerly Morris Nunn and Associates), the buildings are conceptually organic, reflecting the surrounding environment. Saffire evokes a connection to the sea, through references of waves, sea creatures, sand dunes and a flowing, organic form.

Tasmania’s freshest produce and finest wines and beers are showcased in Palate restaurant and The Lounge bar. All guests can restore their wellbeing in the premium spa facilities and on-site gym.

Exclusive Signature Experiences access little-known areas of the Freycinet Peninsula, and a range of other experiences and activities can be tailored to suit guests’ desires.
