All Lizard Island stays include:

Lizard Island benefits from the best of the Great Barrier Reef’s weather with a tropical climate and average daily temperature of approximately 27ºC. Throughout the year, many of the area’s native species and natural wonders can be seen all around the island. Lizard Island’s weather is perfect for year-round island relaxation, where guests are comfortable in casual wear during the day and something a little more special in the evening.

  • A motorised dinghy allows guests private access to Lizard Island’s secluded beaches. Take a picnic hamper packed with gourmet treats and drinks for sustenance. Don’t miss the south side of the island, Blue Lagoon, with its stunning azure water gently lapping at the white sand.
  • A short snorkel off the beach in Watsons Bay, discover the Clam Gardens, home to a colony of giant clams and amazing reef life.
  • A visit to the Australian Museum’s Marine Research Station to witness research vital to our understanding and protection of the reef.
  • As evening draws in, join the resident expert mixologist for a tastebud-thrilling gin tasting session at Driftwood Bar.

Lizard Island transfers depart from East Air terminal, a short drive from Cairns Airport.

Daily scheduled transfers between Cairns and Lizard Island are a short 60-minute scenic flight over the Great Barrier Reef. Private charters can also be arranged.

If arriving from a domestic flight to Cairns a minimum of one hour connection between flights is required. When arriving from an international flight a minimum of two hours is required – this includes domestic travel on an international flight number. These connection times are required in either direction.

Lizard Island can arrange complimentary transfers from the airport to East Air when flight details are provided at time of booking.

Passengers flying to Lizard Island are restricted to one suitcase and one small carry-on item of hand luggage each. Soft suitcases are preferable. A limit of 25kg total per person applies, this includes checked-in and carry-on hand luggage (subject to loading restrictions). Complimentary luggage storage facilities are available.

Lizard Island offers complimentary WiFi. There is no mobile coverage on the island.
