Destination

We acknowledge and pay respect to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of the Great Barrier Reef region. In sharing elements of their history, heritage and culture we acknowledge the Ngaro people, the Traditional Custodians of the land upon which qualia stands.

The Great Barrier Reef is one of the seven wonders of the natural world, and pulling away from it, and viewing it from a greater distance, you can understand why. /t is larger than the Great Wall of China and the only living thing on earth visible from space.

The Great Barrier Reef Region is rich in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage, with evidence of their sustainable and symbiotic relationship dating back more than 60,000 years, long before the Reef was formed 7,000 years ago.

With this culture remaining strong, there are today approximately 70 Traditional Owner clan groups whose Sea Country includes the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

The Great Barrier Reef is a World Heritage-listed, natural inspiration. One of Australia’s most remarkable natural gifts, the Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest coral reef. Stretching over 3,000km, the reef is between 15km and 150km offshore and around 65km wide in some parts, a gathering of brilliant, vivid coral providing divers with the most spectacular underwater experience imaginable.
