“What matters here is space, fresh air and sunlight, elements in abundance that encourage vitality and health in ways that many countries could only dream of.”

Lake House is a tranquil retreat situated on six acres of abundant lakefront gardens.

Thirty-three rooms, suites and villas cascade down to the foreshore providing guests with immediate access to the lake shore and the Wombat State Forest beyond. Guest rooms and communal spaces are furnished and decorated with prints and original canvases by the late and highly regarded artist Allan Wolf-Tasker, as well as those of other artists from this culturally rich region.

Whilst providing a palpable sense of real ‘country retreat’, necessities of civilisation are not neglected. Wi-Fi, in-room flat screens, espresso machines and delivery of a daily newspaper are all on hand. Room service? Of course.

Guests can visit The Spa which draws inspiration from the ‘farm to spa’ philosophy. They can also play tennis, unwind by the infinity pool, explore lake paths meandering past mineral springs into the Wombat State Forest, and enjoy the walkable proximity of the charming village of Daylesford.

As the sun sets over the far shore of the lake, the Argyle Library Bar or the Lagoon Deck are popular places to gather with fellow guests to share tales of the day’s adventures.

“Lake House represents something much more: a lifetime commitment to excellence that transcends fads and fashion.”

From intimate studio rooms to luxe villas and the opulence of sister property Dairy Flat Lodge, Lake House accommodation suits all manner of guests and occasions.

The cosy lodge studios are located in the original ‘country house’ while the beautiful waterfront pool studios have some of the best views on the property. Immediately adjacent to the solar heated infinity pool – accessed either via balconies or through the private garden gate – the rooms overlook the pool waters or serene spotted gum-laid terraces towards the lakeshore and rows of silver birch originally planted in 1979.

There are also three suite categories to choose from, all individually decorated and designed with contemporary country interiors as well as a private luxe “retreat” of two villas situated behind a discreet gate. Amongst its own gardens and with direct access to the lake foreshore, the Retreat offers the opportunity for a more private getaway within the fabled Lake House grounds. Two sumptuously furnished bedrooms, fireside lounging areas, two luxury bathroom /dressing rooms and fully equipped kitchen and bar areas. And in case you’re not inclined to move a muscle – the Retreat’s butler is available on tap.

Located a short 10-minute forested drive from the iconic Lake House is sister property Dairy Flat Lodge – an indulgent, private, concierge serviced getaway amongst almost 40 acres of lush productive farmland and gardens, attended to by the Lake House team. This is the ideal destination for guests seeking immersion in country life, with the prospect of exploration and walks in the sweet air, but who are still eager for bespoke luxury and hotel-style comforts.
