Embark on an extraordinary scenic flight (fixed wing) over to the mesmerising Kati Thanda – Lake Eyre during your stay at Arkaba. Kati Thanda – Lake Eyre contains the lowest natural point in Australia at approximately 15m  below sea level and on the rare occasions that it floods and fills completely, is the largest lake in Australia covering an area up to 9,500 square kilometres. Huge flocks of birds such as pelicans and banded stilts migrate to the filled lake from when hundreds or thousands of kilometres away.

Scientists are still unable to determine how such birds appear able to detect the filling of the lake from such vast distances such as the southern coastal regions of Australia, and from as far afield as Papua New Guinea. The lake takes on a pink hue when saturated, due to the presence of algae and is a sight to behold.

Experience the thrill of flying above this vast salt lake, capturing incredible views of its ever-changing landscapes. As you journey, make a stop at William Creek (population 10 people) for a delicious lunch, savouring local flavours amidst the outback charm. This unforgettable aerial adventure combines the beauty of Lake Eyre with a culinary delight, offering an enriching and memorable experience in the heart of Australia’s rugged wilderness.
